My Story
Daniel Shehata is an Austrian filmmaker, writer, director and creative producer based in Switzerland, working through his company Battersea Power Films.
His work focuses on character-driven genre cinema, often combining crime, satire, moral pressure and dark humour with a distinctly British cinematic sensibility. He is particularly interested in stories about ambition, class, masculinity, institutions, and people trapped between who they are and who the world expects them to become.
Daniel holds an MA in Filmmaking from De Montfort University / Raindance, where he received the Best Postgraduate Student Prize. His film The Nautilus Mutiny won over 20 awards at international film festivals and was distributed on Prime Video and Tubi. He is currently completing his feature film Modern Audience, a satirical dramedy about an ageing screenwriter forced to confront the expectations of a new cultural generation.
Alongside his own films, Daniel has worked in production management, casting, logistics and creative development, including on the Swiss feature The Last Screenwriter. His practical background combines independent filmmaking, technical precision, writing, directing and production organisation.
Through Battersea Power Films, Daniel develops ambitious, high-value independent feature films with a focus on strong concepts, memorable characters and cinematic execution.
